The Ladies 5s started their season with a 2-0 win at home against Tadcaster Magnets Ladies 2s.
The first half finished 0-0, with the team ruing a host of missed opportunities. Overall York had had the lions share of possession, territory and goalscoring chances; but had also survived a scare on the break, with keeper Cat Buckingham winning the one on one with Tadcaster's striker.
But boosted by some half-time chocolates (courtesy of the club day raffle!) York's pressure was at last converted early in the second half, with a goal from Elspeth Livett, helping Rebecca Copperthwaite's shot over the line. The team maintained control of the game for the rest of the second half, sealing the win in the final minute with a Penalty Corner shot from Sarah Davies.
All in all a great start to the season, topped off with a visit to the clubhouse for pizza and beverages in the sun.
