A brie-illiant day for the 5s, securing their second win of the season and moving clear of relegation danger.
After a late start, the red (Leicesters) started the first half with strong possession, but lacking some of the goud-a passing and teamwork on show last week. Despite several short corners and pressure on Halifax’s goal, we failed to cream any of our shots across the line and went into half time 0-0.
Determined not to be blue, York maintained the pressure in the second half. With lots of camem(berts) and encouragement from the support on the sidelines, York finally converted thanks to a strong cross from Anna and grate(d) close-range shot from Lydia to make it 1-0.
A GOAT performance from Annie in defence saw her claim player of the match, with Steph, Wiggy and Mia keeping our circle (roque)fortress York. The 5s rode late Halifax pressure to ensure it was stil(ton) 1-0 when the final whistle went, with CC missing narrowly at the end thanks to a big parm(esan) and fantastic save from Halifax’s keeper.
Now on to next week’s double cheddar, starting with Tuesday’s derby vs 4s.
