An interclub game is like working your way across the top shelf of the bar....you have no idea what to expect.
The 4s stepped confidently onto the pitch, in good spirits and ready for a champagne moment.
They pressed hard from the outset like a pommelier making cider, putting the opposition’s defence under pressure, but despite their best efforts it took until the 33rd minute for the apple to drop into the goal. The ball popped around the D like a champagne cork until Fern found the back of the net. Taking the 4s into the second half in the lead.
After a half time break of sweets not shots the team were ready to go again. The play was scrappy like both teams had been on the cocktails but after a melee in the D a Penalty Corner was awarded. The ball came across the goal to Lucy Farnell (I can only use her full name...I have no idea why) who slotted the ball into the goal like a rum into a Mai Tai.
Annie and Sharon were strong in defence like a good Stout keeping the 5s attack as dilute as water.
Player of the match was shared, like a good Pinot Grigio, by Lucy Farnell and Georgina.
