City of York Ladies First Team hosted Ben Rhydding Ladies in their first home match of the season. York started fantastically well, taking an early 1-0 lead with a brilliant goal from Amy Birch. Ali Couttie followed suit before half time with a well-worked and executed goal to take COYHC 2-0 up.

Frustratingly, York fell apart at the outset of the second half and allowed Rhydding to come back with three soft goals. However, York were not beaten yet and dug deep. After some slick play, York’s Heather Macdonald found Ali Couttie on the post for a superb deflection, taking Couttie’s total for the match to two. Some excellent defence from York kept Rhydding out. Despite some exciting attacking play, York could not slot in a fourth goal to seal the win, resulting in a 3-3 draw.
