Another "away" game for the M6s at Energise, another cup game but this time the opposition were Boston Spa who have moved on from the sandpit at Tadcaster. As we arrived the BS M2s, in their rather fetching red and white quarters, were playing Leeds. As the game ended it was hard to spot many BS players leaving and so it looked like the BS men were in for a tiring afternoon (the BS M3s is a supported team so nothing dodgy going on here, we're happy to have had a game, but two back to back games is a big ask for anyone).

We were set up in our usual 3-2-3-2 and played some nice attacking hockey with some excellent ball distribution from the back, crosses in from the wing by JP and Tony and Sam V in particular upfront making up for his lack of availability earlier in the season with lots of hard running and winning of the ball. Tony opened the scoring with 3 more to follow, two from Aidan and one from Garry in a swashbuckling defensive screen performance. At times we pressed up too far and were in danger of being caught on the break but the defence held strong and Jacob made some excellent saves on the rare occasions he was called into action. I made a play for DoD as I got into a conversation with the opposition but luckily nothing came of it.

Half time Tangfastics were in shorter supply than usual leaving Aidan in need of more sugar, but I'm sure this didn't play into the hamstring pull he suffered later in the game.

More of the same in the second half though with slightly less success, only 2 York goals this half from Willow and Sam and, annoyingly we did finally concede and failed to keep a clean sheet despite the good work from the defence with Dougie, Don and Mark making multiple crucial tackles and Nick helping out at the back. Later in the second half the previous game began to catch up with BS and tempers became a little frayed but after a general warning from the umpires to both teams, things calmed down and we finished the game 6-1 up and on good terms.

MoM was Tony Neeve for his excellent distribution work, integral to several of the goals, as well as his opener. Fingers crossed that Aidan's hammy isn't too bad and it is on to Scarbs away next weekend for a league game.
