After the long trek to Acomb for an away game last week which saw us fade in the second half it was nice to be back at fortress Huntington with two subs. With several key players, "playing up" to support higher teams we fielded our third different line up in as many games; to maintain continuity we stuck with our 3-2-3-2 formation. Although there were end-to-end periods in the first half, the M6s had the majority of the chances though it took us 30 minutes to convert a chance following a short corner routine with Aidan "goal machine" Horner finding the net.

We went in 1-0 up at the break and to freshen things up we sampled some "Funtasia" rather than the usual Tangfastics, together with some other mixed offerings left over from the previous L4s game.

We pressed hard in the second half but perhaps with fewer clear cut opportunities than in the first half. Then we conceded to a Donny short corner. However, it wasn't level for long, with Neil Reader proving that class is permanent with a tap in at the far post after another period of sustained York pressure.

Donny came back at us and we conceded more short corners than was comfortable but fortunately we kept the ball out with Dougie's video homework paying dividends with one particular clearance from the post.

The game ended 2-1 to York, with the score line probably closer than it should have been after our first half performance.

There were excellent M6 debuts for Dewan Harbertson, Oscar Smith, Alistair Tucker and, in goal rather than as an outfield player, Sam Richardson.

Alistair was a well deserved Man of the Match for his performance as a calm and reliable centre back.

Next week there is no game then it's the local M6 vs M7 home derby in the cup to look forward to.
