An early start against Leeds who were 3 points behind with a game in hand. We had comprehensively beaten them at their place earlier in the season but they were the form team coming into the game. The game was pretty open in the first half with neither side really getting on the ball and finding any shape. Greg pulled up with a calf muscle injury 7 minutes in and York's shape was disrupted. Some very good defending throughout from Sam Baker, Rob A and Dean with Josh being particularly dynamic up the left. Disaster just before half time when Leeds scuffed a scrappy ball along the line and in 20 seconds before the whistle. Time to regroup. In the second half, much better from York. Harry and Paul getting on the ball more and threading Zak, Hoggy and Rob F. in. Sam Barrett set up a couple and Michael was always dangerous, particularly off the right. Hoggy did everything right to dump the keeper but then sliced wide. A couple of shorts came and went with the keeper picking Rob A.'s flicks. Then Hoggy took over and drilled a short in for 1-1. We continued to create chances but Leeds pushed, knowing they needed something from the game. Close to the end a ball came up off a stick onto Josh. A failure to react meant their quick hit led to a shot from the top of the D which beat Dunc. If ever there was an example of "play the whistle" and the consequences of not doing so then that was it. Josh was quite upset with the original decision and wanged his stick into the fence. Lucky to stay on, cast iron cert for DoD which he duly collected. MoM for Hoggy.
