Firstly, it is a great privilege to have been voted to become Chair of the Club at the AGM in the summer. I must thank Linda Skelton for all her hard work over the past 8 year's in the role, and look forward to building on this as we continue to strive to take the Club forwards.
This is always an exciting time of year, with hopes of success for the new season ahead. Success will mean different things to different people. For some it may be team goals such as promotion or staying in a particular league. For others it may be personal aims, including just getting on to the pitch in the first place!
No matter how we view or define success, we are one Club and I hope that we can all support and encourage one another as we embark on the journey ahead. It would be fantastic to see a busy Clubhouse on a Saturday afternoon, to socialise with our opposition and fellow teams, win, lose or draw, throughout the season.
We are proud to have as our Club values; commitment, ambition, teamwork, sportsmanship and enjoyment. It is with these in mind that we conduct ourselves as a Club, on a Saturday with umpires and opposition, and at training with our teammates throughout the season.
The Club is forever reliant on an army of volunteers, without whom we simply couldn't exist, and I thank everyone who has taken on a role to date. We are always on the look out for more people to help out, so no matter how big or small a contribution you think you could make, please do not hesitate to get in touch with one of the Exec members to find out more.
Finally, I wish everyone luck and a successful season ahead, starting tomorrow afternoon.
