M6s vs Ben Rhydding 4s

It was a lovely sunny afternoon, perfect for hockey when the mighty 6's stepped on to the pitch to play against Ben Rhydding 4's (BR). We knew they would be a strong team but we were ready after a great game the week before. We had lost some of our regulars to the 5's but gained some quality players who had played higher up so we were nicely balanced out. We got off to a strong start with Rob P orchestrating play in the middle of the pitch (he literally had both arms up shouting at players whilst on the ball!!) Some good interplay up front led to hoggy doing a deliberate miss (honest!!) and letting the ball go through to Ben to knock it in for our first goal. The BR boys strength was through their more mature gentlemen through the centre, especially the one with the bright yellow stick who was particularly good! Despite some staunch defending by Matt the Howitzer, Bedders, Sam and Captain K the BR boys managed to equalize. strong work through the midfield culminated in Bedders leathering one from outside the D whereby Ben nonchalantly stuck his stick on the ball and fired it into the roof of the net. My memory is a bit foggy on what happened next but I think BR got an equaliser then at some point we got a third goal. I apologise to whoever got this but well done! Match winning goal etc!! Everyone played their hearts out to contribute to the victory, the guys who came from the 7's looked at home on the ball. Jack N had a great game again (but don't tell the selection committee!!) Rob P was instrumental (please feel free to play every week Rob!!) Oh and apparently Bedders did some match winning things, please see above for self gratification!! Mighty 6's go marching on to Bradford next week, lets take our winning ways with us! Over and out!
