M6's vs KUHC 06/01

On a dull rainy day, York ventured to Hull and to their surprise quite a posh school and not at all what most of us were expecting. Starting off the new year in a good way everyone was on time with hoggy so early he even managed a nap in the car before the game. Captain Kieran led the team talk and suggested a 3 5 2 formation to try and control the centre of the pitch, however as soon as we started we realised we may have a few issues with the pitch. Its slick surface meant the ball travelled really well but also so did the rest of us falling all over the place. Unfortunately, Hull picked holes in our formation and quickly went 1, 2, and then 3-0 up. York did have a slight dispute about the 2nd goal as it was a blatant foot in the build-up and the entire York team stopped, however we couldn’t really argue about the 1st and 3rd. Midway through the first half a change of shape to a 4 4 2 definitely benefited us and the score line didn’t change. Only other incidents were Bedders' lovely pirouette after missing the ball and his potential assault of a tackle on the young lad up front but that paled in comparison to me losing my standing foot and flattening their right winger (it was really greasy). Second half was much more uneventful with some excellent defending from the front to the back and an outstanding display from Gordy who was later voted MOM. Hull did manage to grab another goal to make it 4 0 but honestly, the second-half performance was excellent other than that. Great skills from young Isaac and Alfie as well and a lot of votes for Tom as well for changing position in his stride in the first half. Although a couple of votes for me for MOM for some good tackles and defending it was my clattering of their attacker that stayed in everyone’s memory hence I got dod. Essay now complete. Roll on next week where hopefully we get to steamroller a Leeds team.
