York, after not travelling very far to get to the match on the sunny Saturday, we’re ready and determined to give Leeds Adel another run for their money after a well-earned victory last time out. With yet again another changed squad, it was not going to be a stroll in the park for York, so they knew they had to start strong.

However, quickly after push back the game took a turn for the worst with Leeds Adel countering quickly and efficiently. This gave York a shock and the loud voice that echoed across the pitch from central defence (Bedders obvs) was clearly echoing the frustration all were feeling. Due to the poor marking, Leeds Adel took their opportunity to dribble through the red shirts and their top striker slotted a strike right past Doyley, hitting the backboard with some ferocious power.

Having gone one down and yet again with the loud voice of encouragement from the back, York knew that had to wake up and stop daydreaming of football matches and the Grand Prix. York pushed back to start the game again but still couldn’t handle Leeds Adel’s strong attacks that kept coming one after the other. This meant that the back line had a lot of work to do in trying to get the ball back up in the opposing half of the pitch. Peter made some great clearances out of York's defensive D but sadly got caught by a black shirt. Again Leeds passed the ball onto their main midfielder who took it round Sam and Jack who were guarding York’s centre. Once the ball had got past York’s midfield, the ball was passed directly onto an Adel stick, another powerful strike which put Doyley to the test who made a good save which unluckily bounced out back towards an Adel player to finish it off.

York were trailing two behind now and getting frustrated as although they had made some decent counterattacks Leeds Adel continued to dominate. As the first half came to an end Wallis declared he was ‘having a mare’ at the back and decided to take himself off grumbling to himself that he couldn’t do anything right. On came Oli who made a very good effort towards the end of the first half by giving their RW a tough time getting forwards. Just before the whistle was about to blow, York had a counter-attack which led to the ball being in the opposition’s half for the first time in a while. Within this attack, a beautiful ball was played off to Murphy to run onto. Luckily he was able to control it, unfortunately though, the pitch was very slippery on the far side which led to him slipping right on his backside. Half time and York were 0-2 down.

York started the second half brightly and we’re rewarded by some promising attacking play. Conditions were still slippy and Mal also took a tumble but skilfully played the ball off to a red shirt whilst on the ground. York continued to press and were rewarded by an intriguing goal where Ben’s shot on goal was lifted by the opposition and looped towards their keeper but was finished off by Sam who nearly deflected it into the goal. With 15 minutes left to play, there was a sense of optimism in the York camp. However, despite numerous journeys into Adel’s half York could not convert the opportunities they created. As time ran out, frustration set in with Murphy questioning decisions and Matt M + Bedders using foul language - Luckily no cards were dished out. Eventually, time ran out and an opportunity slipped by as Adel safely restricted York to their single goal and finished 2-1 winners.

Special mentions to Bedders who won MOM with Mal coming in with a close second.

DOD required little discussion as Murphy won it hands down!
