Mens 6's V Bradford 2s

York approached the midday pushback a week removed from a combative game against a fiery Slazenger team. Ready for more of the same, York were pleasantly surprised with a pleasant Bradford team seemingly lulling York into a false sense of security. Early pressure from York was undone with a quick counter-attack from Bradford to put them 1-0 up despite the low winter sun glaring into their eyes for the first half. York looked to regain a footing in the game when Kieran (me) found himself taking a 16. Aiming for the wide-open Jude, the ball inexplicably travelled the wrong direction finding the waiting opposition striker at the top of the circle. York found themselves an unlucky 2-0 down.

With heads dropping York gained a footing in the game and created some chances of their own to no avail to end the half. The weekly rousing half-time speech from Sam Moore seemed to do the trick, and despite the sun's blinding rays York made a good game of it in the 2nd half (honorable mention to Joe Moisley for wiping out a York teammate he believed to be the opposition). Allo took away Bradford’s clean sheet with another goal for his season tally, leaving Bradford with a nervy last 10 minutes. York piled on the pressure but could not find a way through Buffon 2.0 in the opposition net and Bradford hung on for a win in a good-natured game of hockey.

MOM was won by Matt Bedford for an all-round display from right back and DOD was won by myself for forgetting that the sun rises in the morning.

York look to turn around the 2 game losing streak away at Adel 5s next week.
