With a strong turnout of 15 players for the 6s things were looking up providing the key skill of communication was going to be used to prevent any confusion which had already been an issue in the week. I refer of course to Matt Marshall recommending we play in black or blue despite York being the home team.
Thankfully sense prevailed and everyone turned up in the colour we all know and love, Red.

Following a lengthy warm-up and plenty of training drills York started strong and applied pressure to Boston Spa by keeping the ball in their half for some time. After an early push up the field, Boston gained a 16. This was picked up by Moisley who then made a second attempt at scoring which was sadly hindered by 2 Boston players.
Boston managed to advance into our half however their attempts were foiled by diligent marking and firm tackling.

York won the ball and made a rush upfield once more culminating with a ball being played over Boston's heads to Ernest at the left side of the D. Sadly a goal was not meant to be.

York won a short corner however failed to capitalise this opportunity despite a thunderous strike from Allo.

With the constant pressure being applied to Boston which was kept up by well-managed and timed substitutions attempts on goal were inevitable.

Following a breakaway by York and a show of skills Allo flicked the ball from top D scoring the 1st goal.

It wasn't long before Boston advanced towards York's D and then won a short corner. Despite Yorks sterling defensive efforts Boston scored from an impressive drag flick making it 1-1.

The intensity continued thanks to the fresh legs coming on for York and attempts on goal continued. Dan Wall commanded the middle of the park and used Murphy, Ernest, and Jack as outlets who then ran the ball up the field.

HT 1-1.

York pushed back and immediately reminded Boston they were not going to have an easy ride. With an early drive forward York overloaded Boston, the ball was slipped to Murphy who then scored York's 2nd goal skillfully beating the keeper making it 2-1.

Boston then managed to move the ball around the pitch and eventually won another short corner, thankfully their drag flicker was not on the pitch. They injected the ball which reached the top D however thanks to the efforts from Yorks runners they also reached top D and Wallace blocked their shot. Following some scrappy play in the D York managed to clear the ball.

With more fantastic play from Wall paired with good leading runs from Jack, Murphy, and Adam another goal looked like it was on the way. The next attempt on goal came from Adam winning the ball at the halfway mark and running it up to the D, slipping it to Ernest who then tried to score but missed to the right side of the post.

The game ended as a well-deserved 2-1 win for York who were elated.

As there is no hope of me sweeping it under the rug the last thing to mention is the time York had overloaded Boston in the second half and had a shot on goal. Their keeper saved this attempt however in doing so allowed the ball to roll straight and slow towards the top of the D where Moisley was perfectly stood, unmarked and with time creating the golden opportunity. Despite the stars seemingly aligning allowing this opportunity Moisley swung and tragically missed the ball then awarding the 16 to Boston.

Both well deserved.
