york’s badgers 5th win on the trot.

York’s Development side maintained their 100% start to the season with a fifth consecutive win, beating Ben Rhydding 2-0 at home. York once again adopted the international format of splitting the match in quarters to enable easy rotation of subs as we once again had nearly two teams. York started brightly and were soon in the lead when Charlie Wiggins flicked home from close range beating our own ex Badgers keeper George Bradley-Consitt who was filling in for the opposition as they didn’t have a keeper. The roar from Charlie could be heard in Haxby. York continued to dominate the game even as the team changed. Player of match Niamh Clements extended the league early in the second half with a well taken slap stick shot from the edge of the D. She also combined well with Hattie Henebury who struck a fine elevated shot goalwards only to be thwarted by a great save from George. A few changes of positions demonstrated the strength of talent in the newcomers, with Holly Thornton and Holly Jenner both combining well in the midfield, and the Barrett twins showing their versatility with strong performances in defence. Another good result with increasingly encouraging signs in the way the team continue to develop.
