2009/2010 SEASON
Session1
Report for U10 girls:
Both of York' s Under 10 girls teams had a short journey to Pocklington
for the first league session of the new season. The A team started with
a 2-0 win against Adel with Katraina Bonner scoring both goals. The girls
then beat Wakefield A team with a very impressive 4-0 win, goals from
Katraina Bonner (2) and Lauren Ellwood (2). The team went from strength
to strength as the day progressed, beating Ben Rhydding A 5-0, goals from
Phoebe Hall, Alex Craig (3) and Lauren Ellwood. As the team grew in confidence
they started to play very well together and looked even more impressive
in beating Driffield in the final game, 6-0 was the score with goals for
Rebecca Green, Lauren Ellwood (3), Phoebe Hall and Alex Craig. There were
also excellent performances in defence from Rebecca Green and Annabel
Chan.
City of York B team also enjoyed been unbeaten in the session. They played
Wakefield B first and won 1-0, Ella Deighton scoring the only goal. York'
s second game was against Harrogate with the same 1-0 scoreline, Ella
Deighton scoring again. The girls then eased past Ben Rhydding B with
a 2-0 win, Maddie Hunter scoring both goals. Their final game was against
a strong Kirklees team. Although a much harder game the York side managed
to hold the Kirklees team to a 0-0 draw ensuring they were unbeaten for
the day.

U 10 Girls – 08/11/2009
The girls did really well in horrible conditions, special thanks to Bethany
Wilson who went in goal for nearly all the A and B teams matches.
Thanks to Ella, Phoebe and Megan for playing in both teams and Deanna
for helping out in goal towards the end of the day.
Lauren, Deanna and Ella - well done for using the new self passing rule,
great skills.

City of York Hockey Club Under 10 Girls Teams
The weather was horrible. Cold and pouring down all day. Good play from the A team. Lauren Ellwood scored two hattricks. The first against Ben Rhydding and the second against York ‘B’ team. Phoebe Hall also scored a hattrick agains the York ‘B’ team, with Alex Craig brining the total score to 7-0 to the ‘A’ Team.
The B team, although they didn't win a game played some good hockey at
times considering that it was the first time for some of the young girls.
Ella Deighton in goal made some super saves. By the end of the day, the
young B team squad were tired, wet through and just wanting to get home.

2008/2009 SEASON
Three City of York Hockey Club took three teams to Pocklington on Sunday 19th October 2008
The A team was playing in the A Division which they won last year however most of the side had moved up to the under 12 age group. They started off losing 3-2 to Kingston upon Hull. Next they drew 1-1 with Thirsk. They then beat Wakefield 3-2 and lost the final game 4-3 to Sheffield who won the Division this month. The team finished fourth and remain in the A Division.
The team played well and were unlucky to concede late goals in their two defeats. Good improvement across the games with the last game against Sheffield having York come back from 2 - 0 down to equalise and then a rapid exchange of goals for the late winner to decide it. Goal scorers Karis Hays 4, Lauren Ellwood 4 and Imogen Boddy 1.
The B and C team played in the C Division and had quite a number of new players there who improved on the day

We were without a York C Team for this league, after a quick discussion with the other coaches we decided to play for 13 mins with two halves and play each team twice.
Doncaster and York only had 5 players so Ben Rydding very kindly lent both team players and York also helped out playing for Doncaster.
