The ladies 3s travelled to Chesterfield, the arch nemesis who were promoted along side us last season.
Chesterfield started strong through the middle and down the right as we knew they would soon leading 2-0 after two very well executed goals. York soon settled again with consistent presses earning them more possession as the game went on.
After a free it from half way the ball made its way into the D finding Will Linden. Her shot was blocked and rebounded off the keeper finding Lauren Simpson. Plenty of open space left El Young free for a shot successfully finding the back board. York continued this attacking form with plenty of counterattacks to keep it at 2-1 for half time.
The second half took its toll on York with a lack of subs as they were reduced to 10 players due to a knock on the head. This allowed Chesterfield to exploit the space and take advantage in their attacking half in turn allowing York to counter attack once again. Unfortunately a combination of tiring legs and well drilled chesterfield play led to 3 consecutive goals.
Final score 5-1 to chesterfield
