Halifax 1 at Home

Another gloomy day at the end of September alluded to our second home game of the season. After a small spell of food poisoning removed a handful of our players, our 14 laid themselves out across the pitch, ready to take the fight to newcomers in the league, Halifax.

We started with patient play around the back, quickly making our mark on the game with a Penalty Stroke only 48 seconds in! Danny Elwood swiftly converted, giving us the upper hand. Strong play continued, leading to a sweet deflection finish from Arthur Good. The reds lead 2-0 at half time.

After a passionate team talk about killing the game for us, we reset back on the pitch, ready for more. 4 minutes into the half Rob Newton, who was named MOTM afterwards, finished a lovely hit from the top of the D, alluding their keeper. Halifax then bit back from a short corner, making the score 3-1.

We didn’t stop there however, as the more we went on the more we exploited gaps, weaving and passing through the Halifax defense like a prime Barcelona. A great assist from Toby Clarke gave Danny Elwood his second of the game. A less than rehearsed short corner routine ended up with the ball in the goal once again, thanks to Rufus Wordsworth, and finally we made it 6, with a beautiful defection off Rob Newtons stick, off a superbly weighted ball from Giles Rowley.

All in all a grand day out, 3 points on the board, and the Goal Difference just keeps on climbing!
